Greenland is holding a photography competition to mark the start of the London Festival of Architecture (LFA) and the selection of Ram Quarter for inclusion in the programme.
The LFA is an annual celebration of the UK capital’s architectural landscape throughout the month of June. As part of the timetable guided walking tours of Ram Quarter will take place on Wednesday 12 June, led by EPR Architects. The tours will explore how Greenland’s redevelopment of the former Ram Brewery has preserved its unique history, while creating a new space for the local community to enjoy for generations to come. Ram Quarter’s selection as part of the festival reflects its singular place in London’s industrial past and architectural story.
Alongside the tours Greenland will be running a photography competition from 1 June until midnight on 12 June. Entrants will need to take and post on their social media a single photograph of Ram Quarter, and include a few brief words (not more than a sentence) explaining how the image shows the theme of this year’s festival: ‘reimagine’. EPR Architects will judge the competition, and will pick one winner from among all entries.
Once judging is complete, the winner will be given £50 in credit to spend at Ram Quarter in Sambrook’s taproom - London’s oldest independent brewery. Full terms and conditions can be found below.

Entering the competition
- Take your own photograph at Ram Quarter, demonstrating the theme of “Reimagine” to best effect.
- This photograph must be posted to one or more of your social media channels.
- The photograph post must tag Ram Quarter (@RamQuarter) and EPR Architects (@EPRArchitects) and include the hashtag #RamQuarterLFA.
- Only one photograph per person will be accepted (the first posted with the correct hashtag and tags). The same photograph posted on multiple social media channels will be accepted as one entry.
- Entry open only to those with a social media channel and posting as described above.
Eligibility
- The competition is open to anyone aged 18 or above.
- By entering the competition you give Greenland the right to repost your image and text, and/or to use it in the future.
- Entries will be accepted from the UK only.
- The competition is not open to friends or family of anyone working at Greenland or EPR Architects.
Closing date for entry
- Entries to the competition will be accepted until 11.59pm BST on Wednesday 12 June 2024.
- The winner will be notified by the end of June.
The prize
- The winner will be entitled to expenditure to the value of £50 in Sambrook’s taproom at Ram Quarter, to be booked on a date of the winner's choice.
- Availability of the chosen date will be confirmed by Sambrook's.
- The prize must be redeemed not later than 31 July 2024.
- No cash alternative to this prize will be offered.
- The prize must be redeemed in one visit. If the prize is not redeemed in full on that visit, no change will be given.
- The winner will post on his/her social media about the prize-winning visit ideally during the visit itself, or not later than the day following the visit.
The winner and claiming your prize
- The winning photograph will be selected by EPR Architects. The judge’s decision is final and not open to appeal.
- The winner will be notified via the social media channel on which the application was made.
